For over twenty years, the competitive program is the cornerstone of the Montreal Rowing Club. Our competitive rowers are among the best in Canada: they win medals in all provincial, national and international regattas and join the provincial or national elite teams. This program will allow you to reach the top level of rowing.
Depending on your age, you will join the Junior group (18 and under) or Senior group (19 years and over).
The competitive program is given throughout the year.
It is recommended to have already a first experience of rowing before entering the competitive program since a competitive experience is required to participate in regattas.
Competitive members of our club are expected to adhere to a rigorous training schedule. Trainings in the summer take place between 5 to 10 times a week. You are expected to train partly on your own and a part of the trainings will be supervised by the coaches of your group.
You benefit from the supervision of coaches familiar with the high level and who have their NCCP certification. These coaches are continiously improving with RCA traning programs. The coach is responsible for competitive rowers of its group. It will assess the progress of the athlete throughout the season.
As a member of the club, you will be required to fulfill some volunteer tasks (regattas volunteering, cleaning up, etc.). This being a non-profit organization, we depend very much on the support of our members. A club is only ever as good as the sum of its members!
New competitive members may find the training schedule challenging. However, non-adherence to the training schedule may result in early dismissal from the competitive program.
