Competitive Rowing

A real challenge....

The competitive program brings together experienced rowers that train frequently and aspire to compete in regattas on provincial, national and international level. (to come: a list of regattas that our competitive athletes often visit) .

Any beginner joining the competitive program must realize that it often takes up to a year of training before being ready to participate in competitive regattas.

Also, we ask people who are new to rowing to row one season as a recreational rower before joining our competitive program (exceptions apply).

Training: a serious commitment

Competitive members of our club are expected to adhere to a rigorous training schedule. Trainings in the summer take place between 5-10 times a week. You are expected to train partly on your own and a part of the trainings will be supervised by our competitive coaches, mainly our Head Coach.

New competitive members may find the training schedule challenging. However, non-adherence to the training schedule may result in early dismissal from the competitive program.

Beginner competive rowers will have a standard training schedule in order to be able to measure your progress against the larger beginner group. Experienced competitive rowers are encouraged to discuss individual training needs with Head Coach.

All competitive rowers fall under the supervision of our Head Coach. Your progress as an athlete will be monitored and evaluated throughout the season.

Costs

Annual Competitive Membership: 650$ (includes taxes and association (AQA/RCA) fees)

In order to encourage regatta participation, this fee includes a $100 credit (non-refundable) towards your regatta fees. Please note that a competitive rower will have to pay any additional regatta and boat transportation fees above and beyond the $100 credit.

Volunteering

As a member of the club, you will be required to fulfill some volunteer tasks. This being a non-profit organization, we depend very much on the support of our members.  A club is only ever as good as the sum of its members!
