Because rowing is an accessible sport to a general public, the Montreal Rowing Club has built over the years a program for people, beginners and initiated who want to practice the sport in a recreational context.
The objective of this program is to enable its members to develop their technical ability but also to develop the concept of pleasure within crews.
During the summer practices will be held at the Olympic Basin, while during the winter you can enjoy the facilities of the Quartier des Athlètes to stay in good shape!
Training sessions supervised by coaches are given three times a week in the evenings.
Outside these periods of supervised training, members (except novice members) can enjoy the Olympic Basin during free time but without a coach.
Each group is under the supervision of a coach who will organize the training at the start of each practise and will follow your progress during the program.
You benefit from the supervision of coaches who have their NCCP certification, which will help and advise you to improve your rowing. These coaches are continously improving with RCA training and their training are suitable for recrational practice.
Please note that the coach supervises several recreational rowers during the training and may not be available at any time during the entire duration of the training.
Many recreational members enjoy their membership on an athletic as well as a social level: recreational members are particularly active in Club life and Club development, and many recreational members enjoy participating in boat maintenance, coaching and coxing, potluck get-togethers, club outings, etc.
